Application to extend Thanet Offshore Wind Farm

The Crown Estate has received a request from Vattenfall Wind Power Limited to extend its Thanet Offshore Wind Farm.

The Crown Estate proposes to consider any formal applications for wind farm extensions against the following criteria:

i. The wind farm to be extended must be constructed and fully operational at the date of the formal application.

ii. The capacity in megawatts of the extension must not exceed that of the existing wind farm.

iii. The site of the extension must share a boundary with the site of the existing wind farm.

iv. The application must be from the tenant of the existing wind farm.

v. Other than the site of the existing wind farm, the site of the extension must not encroach within a radius of 5km of the site of any other wind farm unless the tenant of any such wind farm confirms its agreement in writing to The Crown Estate.

Any application meeting such criteria will then be assessed against project evaluation criteria which are available upon request.

If The Crown Estate grants rights to extend, the agreement for lease may be entered into by the tenant of the existing wind farm, a shareholder of that tenant or an entity which is at least 50% owned by a shareholder of the tenant of the existing wind farm.

The Crown Estate will issue a further notice following the conclusion of its assessment of any formal application received from Vattenfall Wind Power Limited.
