Rural estate

Managing a diverse rural portfolio across Scotland, our role is to make sure that the land and property we invest in and manage is sustainably worked, developed and enjoyed to deliver the best value over the long-term.

With business interests across Scotland – from Dumfriesshire to the north east  most of our 37,000 hectares of rural land is within Moray, where we manage the Glenlivet and Fochabers estates.

Through the active management of our estate, we work to enhance its value whilst ensuring its long-term sustainability. Partnership is an important part of our approach, and we look to co-invest with our tenants and stakeholders, to deliver mutual benefit. Through financial investment and by granting long-term leases to sound businesses we give tenants the security to strengthen, grow and diversify their business.

Some of the country's best wildlife and geological sites are in our care. We are engaging with tenants and other partners to develop a wide range of initiatives to enhance the environment, and are guardians of a significant amount of cultural heritage, supporting local tourism, recreation and economic development. We've encouraged public understanding of forestry through initiatives such as the Forests for the Future education pack and through continued support for National Tree Week, with programmes of tree planting across our estates.
