Through our stewardship programme, we collaborate with partners to inspire innovative and sustainable thinking across our portfolios and in the communities where we do business.

The resulting stewardship projects are practical ways of demonstrating conscious commercialism – creating value through considering the bigger picture and having a positive impact on people, organisations and communities.

The projects generate value beyond financial and deliver lasting benefits to the local communities and environments in which we operate as well as to our business and our stakeholders, strengthening our relationships across our core sectors.

Here are a few examples of what this means in practice:

  • Creating a green corridor linking Regent’s Park to St James’s Park through our Central London assets, providing valuable habitats for wildlife and improving the experience for residents, workers and visitors.
  • Expanding opportunities from our successful Central London employment scheme to our retail destinations around the UK, supporting local jobs for local people.
  • Introducing a range of initiatives to promote sustainable soil management in the farming community throughout one of the UK’s largest rural and coastal land holdings, improving the quality of soil across our rural portfolio.
  • Supporting apprenticeships at Windsor Great Park, helping the next generation create positive futures and developing our skilled workforce.
  • Introducing young people to careers in the offshore renewables industry, encouraging understanding of renewable energy and the value of the seabed and benefiting the offshore renewables industry.
  • Helping developers and the public record offshore archaeological finds, protecting our nation’s marine heritage.
  • Providing work placements and mentoring for young people from less privileged backgrounds in our own offices, helping nurture tomorrow’s diverse workforce.

We don't operate a fund; our stewardship activities arise from our business activities, closely aligned with our active asset management and investment strategy. Projects are led by our asset managers working in collaboration with partners to deliver shared benefits and increase the wider impact of our projects, with a focus on education, employment, skills and environment.
