Data Science technology is evolving rapidly. We invest in the development of cutting-edge digital solutions for the marine sector so that data and evidence can be analysed, combined and used in the most efficient and innovative ways.

Our award winning spatial planning system provides advanced analysis tools that utilise the most comprehensive database of seabed characteristics, uses and interests in the country. To improve on this system further, we are currently working on a Resource Identification & Optimisation tool (RIO) which enables data to be structured and prioritised to ensure all environmental, social and cultural interests are fairly represented in line with stakeholder views. RIO provides a unique one-stop-shop of tools that deliver the best evidence to support marine spatial planning now and into the future.
