Executive Leadership

Anna Swaithes

Chief Sustainability Officer

Anna Swaithes joined The Crown Estate in February 2022 as Head of Sustainability, joining the Group Leadership team as Chief Sustainability Officer in June 2024.

Anna leads Group Sustainability and spearheads business-wide sustainability activity spanning climate, nature and social impact. Anna and her team are focused on what it means for The Crown Estate to be genuinely sustainable in a rapidly evolving external context, supporting the business to set evidence-based commitments, create and implement effective transition plans, and report transparently on our progress.

Anna's background is in sustainability, strategy and partnership building. Prior to joining The Crown Estate, she worked for the UK government leading the Inclusive Economy Unit, which pioneered new ways for government to work with the private sector to deliver social value. She was Sustainable Development Director for SABMiller, the global brewer, with a focus on integrating sustainable development into core business and aligning to the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris climate agreement, and she led cocoa sustainability for Cadbury and then Kraft Foods.

Anna lives in West Wales with her young family, where she is inspired and motivated by the coast and by the ethos around the wellbeing of future generations.
